I live out in the sticks, and I stick by the idea that if a team name offends a whole group of people, it's common decency to change it. My grandad used to say, "If you wouldn't say it to their face, don't put it on their jerseys," you know? It's not about being PC; it's about being respectful.

I don't get why this is even a debate. If a team name or mascot is offending a whole group of people, just change it already. It's not about being overly sensitive, it's about showing basic respect for others. I mean, it's common sense, right?

C'mon now, changing sports team names won't solve real issues facing minority communities. I mean, instead of focusing on names, let's work on improving education, job opportunities, and community resources. I grew up in a diverse neighborhood, and trust me, a name change ain't gonna fix deep-seated problems.
