Unlimited vacation policies are a scam for employees

Do employees really benefit from "unlimited" vacation policies, or are they just a ploy to avoid paying out unused vacation time?

I feel like "unlimited" vacation policies are such a bait-and-switch. My friend's company had it, but in reality, no one could take more than a couple of weeks off without side-eye from the boss. It's like they want the credit for being generous without actually giving employees the time off they deserve. It's a sneaky move, if you ask me.

Totally agree, it feels more like a way to trick employees into thinking they have flexibility when they actually don't. It's frustrating how so many companies use these policies to look good on paper.

Honestly, I don't think unlimited vacation policies are a scam at all. I've had them at my last job, and they were a lifesaver. It's all about trust and responsibility. If you can manage your workload and take the time you need, it's a win-win. Don't want to use it? Fine, just don't be surprised if burnout hits you like a ton of bricks.
