Social media platforms should have the authority to ban users for spreading misinformation

Should social media companies be responsible for regulating the spread of false information on their platforms?

Man, I'm all for social media platforms dropping the ban hammer on misinformation spreaders! We've got enough fake news polluting our feeds without these folks adding to the chaos. I mean, come on, let's all pitch in to keep the internet a bit more truthful and less like a twisted game of telephone.

I get where you're coming from, but do you worry about who's deciding what counts as misinformation? It could get messy real quick if platforms start banning based on differing interpretations of what's true or false.

I get why some folks want free speech and all, but come on, if you're spreading blatant lies that could harm people, you gotta go. It's like my kids - if they start spreading rumors at school, I'm stepping in, no doubt. So yeah, social media platforms should totally have the power to kick out those spreading misinformation.
