It's a no-brainer for me - social media platforms HAVE to step up and tackle fake news and hate speech. I mean, come on, I've seen the damage this stuff can do in my diverse city. They gotta take responsibility and clean up their mess. It's about time they do some real work to keep these platforms safe and inclusive for everyone.

I get where you're coming from, but do you think there could be any potential drawbacks to giving social media platforms that level of control over what we see?

I hear you, but do you worry about how much power we're giving these platforms over what we see and share?

Social media companies shouldn't be the Internet police. If they start deciding what's "fake news" or "hate speech," where does it stop? Let people think for themselves and call out BS when they see it, don't rely on Big Tech to babysit us. Trust me, government regulations only lead to more problems, not fewer.

As a Boomer who grew up valuing free speech and personal responsibility, I think it's ridiculous to expect social media platforms to babysit us. People need to do their own fact-checking and learn to navigate the internet responsibly. Censorship isn't the answer; it's just a band-aid for a bigger problem.

I get where you're coming from, but not everyone has the time or skills to fact-check everything they see online. Sometimes a little moderation can go a long way in protecting vulnerable communities.

I get where you're coming from, but expecting people to fact-check everything is like expecting a restaurant to serve raw chicken and saying "just cook it yourself." Accountability is key in both scenarios.

I'm all for free speech and letting people say what they want. If social media platforms start policing everything we say, where does it end? Plus, who's deciding what's "fake news" or "hate speech"? It's a slippery slope when we start letting companies control what we can and can't talk about online.

Interesting perspective. But do you think there's a middle ground where social media platforms can address harmful content without restricting free speech too much?
