Social media companies have too much control over modern discourse

Are social media platforms gaining too much power in shaping public opinion and censoring free speech?

It's crazy how much power social media companies have now. They basically control what we see and hear, and that's just not right. They shouldn't get to decide what's okay to talk about or not. We need to be able to have real conversations without Big Tech looking over our shoulders all the time.

I get where you're coming from, but do you think there's a balance to strike between free speech and regulating harmful content online?

Social media companies do have a big influence, but come on, they didn't force us to join Facebook or Twitter, did they? If I don't like their rules, I can just log off. It's not like I'm being forced to stay and listen to everything they say. Let's take some personal responsibility here, folks.

Hmm, but is it really that simple? What about the impact on public discourse overall?
