Smartphones have definitely made things worse, I mean, just look around! People are constantly glued to their screens, missing out on real interactions. My own kids can't even have a meal without checking their phones every two seconds. It's like we've forgotten how to have a face-to-face conversation anymore. It's sad, really.

Smartphones have definitely made society worse, no doubt about it. I mean, come on, just look around – people glued to their screens not even talking to each other, mental health issues on the rise, and don't even get me started on kids growing up with these things. I miss the days when people actually connected face-to-face, you know, like humans!

I remember when people could just be bored. Now every second has to be filled with content. We've lost the ability to be alone with our thoughts.

I notice my attention span is completely shot. I can't focus on anything for more than a few minutes without checking my phone. That didn't happen overnight.

Teen depression and anxiety have skyrocketed since 2012 - right when smartphones became widespread. This isn't coincidence. The data is clear.

You know, I gotta say, I'm not buying into this idea that smartphones have made everything worse. I mean, sure, people may be glued to their screens a bit too much, but think about all the connections we can make now! I've reconnected with so many old friends and even made new ones through social media. Plus, the convenience of having everything at your fingertips? I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Every new technology faced this same moral panic. Radio was rotting brains. TV was destroying families. Video games caused violence. It's always wrong.

The mental health stuff has way more causes than just phones. Economic anxiety, climate doom, pandemic trauma. Blaming smartphones is too convenient.

For marginalized kids, online communities can be literal lifesavers. LGBTQ teens in conservative towns finding support online matters more than boomers being sad about dinner conversation.
