Small businesses are more important to the economy than big corporations

Supporting small businesses is crucial, in my opinion. They bring character and uniqueness to the community, not just cookie-cutter stores you find in every town. Plus, it's more personal - you're actually supporting someone's dream, not just padding a CEO's wallet. I always try to shop local for that reason - my neighborhood thrives on those mom and pop shops.
